Calico Ghost Town

I feel like I have been gone forever! Last week was spring break for my kids so we loaded them up and headed out of town in our RV. We had some great friends come along as well with their 2 kids. First stop was Calico Ghost town which is a small silver mining town just outside of Barstow California. It turned out to be a great place to visit! There was actually a lot to see considering how small this town was. We toured a mine shaft, panned for gold, spent some time in a sideways house and the old school house. We took a small train trip in which we learned all about the town of Calico and the Silver King Mine. It was a fun day AND the only time I dragged out my big camera. Other then that I took snapshots with my point and shoot which is so much easier on vacation! Here are a few pictures of Calico. This is one of the remaining original stores
This sign cracked me up, it was hanging on the drug store...haha! These are the water buckets that are in the center of town, in case of a fire. The old fire truck and carriage. The old school house. And the one picture I took of "K" lol!
